WHAT IS MESSAGE DESIGN?

It is estimated that 75% of a person’s day is spent communicating in some way – clearly integral to just about everything we do and want. How effective are your communications, then, in getting you what you want in life?

Message design is the act of strategically planning significant, individual communications. It is the act of knowing what we want to communicate, why, to whom, and the best means in which to get the message across to them. It is the art of communicating well in a world in which we are inundated with messages, and in which the most negative messages are often the ones which spread the fastest. You need to be versed in the strategy of message design in order to be a successful digital-era communicator. This means it is essential that you know your message, your audience, what you want to have happen, and the communication mediums available. Your job will be to take limited, probably complex information, and turn it into a simple message that people will appropriately respond to. Message Design will focus on offering you the opportunity to develop the tools to create your own formalized message design system.

With confusion rampant on what message design actually is, our goal is twofold: (1) to deliver consistency and logic as to what "message design" means in the fields of Communication, Design, and Marketing, and (2) to make it one of the most useful courses you'll ever take, while still being fun, thus filling a needed gap in several disciplines.

Upon your order, your Message Design binder or textbook will be shipped out within one working day.
